Serendipitous Dialing

Don't you love it when you call the right person at the right time and they tell you exactly what you need to hear? I just spoke to a friend I was meaning to call for a few days now and am so glad I did. Reaching out can be just the remedy for the "been at home too long and starting to feel pathetic blues". How do we get to this place?, it's easy, i've slipped into the isolation trap many a time and can vouch for what a slippery slope it is.
1- it starts and ends with not getting out of your pajamas. "but they're so comfortable!", you remark, yes exactly, but they only stay that way while they're clean which basically means you should only be wearing them while sleeping. Pajamas are the gateway, they lead to less showers, which lead to greasy hair, which can lead to all kinds of wild ideas from being alone too long or watching too much t.v. - "maybe I should go into acting, I did play Yente in my elementary school production of Fiddler on the Roof" or "I've always had a knack for popping pimples, maybe beauty school is for me!" Point being that when we are alone it's very easy to get our crazy on - freelancers you gotta know what I'm talking about! So pick up the phone and call a friend, they will reconnect you with the you that wears outdoor clothes, the you that can be dropped in on at anytime and the you that remembers that to be a part of this world you must interact with it.
